Trans Spergebiet

We supply three meals a day as well as all cutleries needed. We do not supply ice for drinks. Don’t forget you’re favorite drinking glass and chairs. If you do not have a tent we can supply one but you will have to pitch it and transport it yourself. We supply showers but you need to provide your own water. Believe me; you can shower with 5lt’s of water! The distance to be covered is approximately 780km’s so you need to carry enough extra fuel for the trip. A petrol engine will give an average consumption of approximately 3km’s/l and diesel 4km’s/l. If, like me you drive a 4.5l Land Cruiser, you will need 260 liters of fuel!

Day 1

We meet in the town of Luderitz at 17:00 after which we settle in to our accommodation for the night. We enjoy a welcoming dinner at 19:00 where we meet our guides and everybody else on the trip and also a briefing as to what expect the next couple of days. (Accommodation in Luderitz for your own account.)

Day 2

After breakfast we meet in front of Volker’s house where the radios will be handed out before we leave in convoy for the “great nothing” and our first nights camp. Dinner will be served by our chef.

Day 3

Once more after breakfast it is on to Spencer bay, the United trader, Suzy the flat nosed Ford etc and some big dune driving stopping along the way for lunch. Once we reach our camp site we relax and enjoy a night next to the camp fire.

Day 4

We head on out and find the bulldozer that was left in the middle of nowhere. A lunch stop is on the cards and a visit to the wreck of the Eduard Bohlen and then on to Meob Bay.

Day 5

Today we start visiting all the old mining towns in the Namib and spend most the day travelling from mining town to mining town. Lunch and dinner is served by our chef once more.

Day 6

We start making our way on the last leg to Luderitz and do some serious dune driving along the way with lunch and dinner being served.

Day 7

We exit the Namib Desert at Walvis Bay at “Paaltjies” and the salt mine. From here we travel to the Walvis Bay yacht club for a farewell lunch and hand out certificates. After lunch it is time to say our farewells and depart our separate ways.
