Bernie was born in Pietermaritzburg and moved to Bloemfontein in 1972. He is still a big Sharks supporter! He has been living in Bloemfontein ever since.
He was an on air DJ for OFM in Bloemfontein for 10 years and has experience in TV presenting as well and spent many years In the music industry. Needless to say, many a night is spent around the camp fire being entertained by him!
Bernie has vast experience in driver training and guided 4×4 tours through places like the Namib Desert, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and also Zambia. We offer full logistical support which includes tents, chairs and 3 lovely meals per day prepared by our bush chef with more than 8 years of practical experience.

Bernie is also a qualified Driver Trainer Assessor as well as Driver Trainer Facilitator and is also part of the widely acclaimed Goodyear 4×4 Academy.
The Free State 4×4 Academy was started by Bernie in 2002 after completing the instructors trailing course successfully at Klipbokkop, home of the Goodyear 4×4 Academy. Tyre training also forms part of the curriculum of the course.
This was the start of a relationship between Bernie and Goodyear, which has gone from strength to strength in the last 6 years. He was involved with the Goodyear 4×4 Eco Challenge and was responsible for the selections in the Free State and Northern Cape regions. On the last official Goodyear 4×4 Eco Challenge a team that was trained by Bernie, attained the highest ever score at the semi finals held in the Kalahari and also went on to complete the final in Mozambique.
Bernie has subsequently bought the Bloemfontein branch of 4×4 Megaworld and also started a touring company called Megaworld 4×4 Adventures and Academy, where he does self drive safaris to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Lesotho.
